 Angela Barrett  * Angela Barrett

Award-winning illustrator, Angela Barrett studied at the Royal College of Art where she was taught by Quentin Blake. She has illustrated numerous books and designed book covers for over 30 titles.

 Patrick Benson  * Patrick Benson

Born 1956, Patrick Benson went to Eton. He studied classical drawing in Florence followed by a foundation year at Chelsea Art School. Most of Patrick Benson's work has been for other people. He has now illustrated over 24 titles for authors including Kenneth Grahame, Roald Dahl and Russell Hoban.

 Stephen Biesty  * Stephen Biesty

Stephen Biesty is king of the cross-section. Working with Richard Platt, who writes the text, he has illustrated a variety of information books for both adults and children. His first book was published in 1992.

 Quentin Blake  * Quentin Blake

Quentin Blake studied at Downing College Cambridge, the University of London and Chelsea School of Art. Quentin is one of the UK’s most popular and best recognised artists. He was the first Children's Laureate. To many he is most associated with Roald Dahl's children's books. Once voted ‘the illustrator's illustrator’

Raymond Briggs studied at Wimbledon School of Art and the Slade School of Art, London. He has won the Kate Greenaway Medal for children's book illustration twice, as well as numerous other awards.

 John Burningham  * John Burningham

John Burningham studied at Central School of Art and Design, London. He is married to Helen Oxenbury, another popular children's illustrator. One of the UK's most distinguished illustrators, John Burningham's appeal is recognised the world over. He has won the Kate Greenaway Award for children's book illustration twice.

Emma Chichester Clark studied at Chelsea School of Art and the Royal College of Art, London. Emma won the Mother Goose Award in 1988 as the most exciting newcomer to children's book illustration.

Lauren Child studied at Manchester Polytechnic and City and Guilds of London Art School. She has won the Kate Greenaway Medal for children's book illustartion and her artwork was selected to promote World Book Day 2002.

Sara Fanelli studied at City and Guilds of London Art School, Camberwell School of Art and has an MA for Illustration from the Royal College of Art, London. She has received The Macmillan Prize for a Children's Book and numerous other awards.

Michael Foreman studied at Lowestoft Art School, St Martin's School of Art and the Royal College of Art, London. He has illustrated over 170 books and twice won the Kate Greenaway Medal.

Tony Ross studied at Liverpool School of Art. He has illustrated many contemporary authors as well as re-illustrating many classics. Multi-award-winning Tony Ross has become one of the best-known creators of original and traditional picture books and his work has been published all over the world.

 Posy Simmonds  * Posy Simmonds

Posy Simmonds studied at Central School of Art and Design, London and received an MBE in 2002 for services to the newspaper industry. Posy first made her name with a popular cartoon series in the Guardian. Her works are notable for the discipline and fine tuning of the page design.

 Charlotte Voake  * Charlotte Voake

Charlotte Voake studied at the University of London and is a Smarties award winner. Charlotte wanted to be an illustrator ever since her first book was published while she was still at university. Since then she has illustrated many books for other authors, as well as producing her own picture books. Her work is notable for its draughtmanship.
